These examples show how you can
transform a simple greetings card in to an original water colour picture by
simply adding a mount and placing it in to a suitable frame.
A
personalised handmade hand painted greetings card can become something even
more special by framing it and displaying it for all to see and enjoy for many
years to come.
1.
Having selected the required coloured card, cut the heavy watercolour mounting card to the desired size,
this being the overall size of the frame you have selected.
2. Measure the overall size of the greetings
card or picture you are framing and mark that size on the centre
of the mounting card.
3.
Reduce the previously marked size by the amount you wish to
overlap the picture being framed making sure not to cover too
much of the picture detail. Usually 10 to 15mm all round is
sufficient. You should now have a piece of card with a rectangle marked in
the centre which is 10 to 15mm smaller than the picture being
framed.
4. Cut all around the inside of the markings
leaving a rectangular hole in the mounting card.
5.Past paper glue all around the inside of the mount but only to a thickness of the over lap which is your 10 to 15mm.
6.Place the card or picture
carefully and evenly over the mount and allow to dry.
7.Place the picture and mount in your selected frame and cut a
piece of board or card to fit within the overall size of
the picture frame and fix it into the frame using panel
pins or frame fixings.
8.To finish cut and place masking tape around the the frame to cover the joint between the backing and the frame.
The results should be a beautifully framed painting.
