How to
Personalize a Greeting Card:
A greeting card
can be a gift in itself by adding some personalization
to let the recipient know it was selected with care. Use
the following ideas to make a homemade or store-bought
greeting card a gift in itself for a husband or wife.
Add Sincerity to the Card:
Sometimes the messages on greeting cards convey the desired feeling
with absolute accuracy. When this is the case it would
be easy to assume that the recipient will know the
gift-giver’s heart was behind the message. Instead of
letting the card do the talking, however, add a message
that underscores the greeting card’s printed words. Tell
a wife or husband how perfect the card was or repeat the
theme in a hand-written message. For example, “When I
saw this card I knew it was written for you. I couldn’t
express our love any better.” Adding a note that
emphasizes the card’s message ensures the recipient
knows the card was chosen just for him or her.
Add Thankfulness to the Greeting:
Being thankful for a spouse is something that often goes
unsaid after several years of marriage. Even spouses who
tell each other, “I love you,” every day may neglect to
just give thanks for their spouse. Use the card as an
opportunity to share a thankful heart with a spouse. Try
to be very specific to make the message more personal.
Instead of saying, “I’m so thankful I have you in my
life,” try something that speaks directly to what the
partner adds to the marriage. “I’m thankful for how hard
you work for our family,” can mean a lot to a husband or
wife who feels like their work goes unnoticed or
unappreciated.
The Message is the Gift:
When a greeting card can’t be found that says what is
necessary or time for shopping has run out, it is time
to make a homemade card. Regardless of whether the card
is handwritten or printed off the computer, the personal
message is the gift. Start by thinking about why the
card is being sent to the spouse. Is it a holiday,
special anniversary or Valentine’s Day? What does the
spouse need to know? Keep it simple by focusing on one
or two lines that will be heartfelt and thankful. For
example, “I wanted you to know on our anniversary that
every year I love you more than I ever thought possible.
I am so thankful for the gift of your love.” Don’t copy
a message off a greeting card and don’t worry about
sounding too silly or simple.

special greetings card just follow the instructions
